About Church of Sant Francesc

The church of Sant Francesc was blessed in 1738 and built for defence against pirate attacks: it keeps its iron-clad door with a loophole and a barrel vault made to withstand artillery. It was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1996 and is still the heart of village life. It is a place of worship: dress respectfully (formentera.es).
