About La Mola and El Pilar: the back story

La Mola is the high plateau at the eastern end of the island, rising to 192 metres at Sa Talaiassa. Its village, El Pilar, holds the craft market; at the far end, the lighthouse stands 120 metres above the sea.

The lighthouse

The Far de la Mola, the Jules Verne monument and the Cati Verdera collection.

The market

Since 1984, everything handmade in Formentera; Wednesday and Sunday, 4pm–10pm, in season.

Wednesday and Sunday afternoons: market, then lighthouse.

The plateau

The Molí Vell, the Terramoll winery and the 12.3 km Pla de la Mola loop.

Our advice: climb the Camí de sa Pujada on foot, and take the bus back down.
